Here's some pics of a few of the slabs we milled today. Sorry the pics are so big, I don't know how to get them smaller.

yes they'll most likely become table tops. Right now I'm using and alaskan mill with a 3120....seems to work well. I need to get a carbide chain though. I can only make about two cuts and then I have to sharpen the chain.
 
Gorgeous slabs KJ-very nice! When you get the carbide chain let us know how it works for milling would ya? I don't recall seeing a post/thread on that. :cheers:
 
It may have been Matilda's Mate who posted on carbide chains a while back. He claimed they were useful for milling hardwoods. I'd be afraid embedded rocks would chip carbide, though. At least if you rock a steel chain, you aren't out much.
 
The slabs are redwood, so the wood is soft. My biggest problem is dirt dulling the chain, it's impossible to get all of the dirt out of these old growth stumps. The carbide holds up a lot better to dirt.
