I hired Burvol off the internet to come down and do some cutting for me. My wife thought I was crazy...

Me: "I have a cutter comming down to cut timber, hired him off the internet."

Wife: (One eyebrow shoots up) "You what?"

Anyway, it was a great experience. He is an exceptional cutter and a more than that, he has become a good friend. My only regret is we didn't take time to get some pics. But, we had timber to move, and we did that.

He'll be back, and next time we'll make time to take some pics.

Thanks, Burvol. You really helped me out. Rock on, and stay safe.

Oooops. sorry for the thread jack...thought I was starting a new thread. Darn. Hmmmm...too dumb to figure how to edit....

I'll just go to work and there you have it.

Cool deal!
It's great it worked out for both of you!
No excuse for no pics on the next trip!

TreeCo, thanks for the help.

I got to log out the timber Burvol cut, and he did a fine job. Recommend him for any cutting. Told him how I wanted it cut, then left him alone. Didn't have to tell him twice.

All trees were in lead, all bucked cleanly, and limbed three sides. It was a pleasure to log well cut timber.

He does better work than me, (and I'm the Bullbuck.)

Another thing, I asked him to finish the worst strip on the unit, and he did, without complaint. Steep, unforgiving ground. 100% slopes and short ground, w/brush.

Bushler,
I never read this thread before. Thanks for the kind words. The pleasure was all mine. I really enjoyed coming down, seeing your ground, your operation, and meeting you. I'm glad I could make your cut:cheers: I really wanted to come down not only to work, but to prove to myself that I could go any place in Oregon and cut timber. I've cut some really, really nasty steep ground in the Cascades, but your ground was quite tricky. Steep with short lays...and that damn Tan Oak. I even had the nerve to call that stuff "kinda pretty" when I first showed up! You're right, that stuff is horrible! Thanks for the kind words my friend, I hope I can come back. Springer season?

Burvol, the best time for springers is end of April first of May. I'll have the jet sled gassed and ready.

Spent a couple hours on my favorite steel head creek, zip nadda, except some cuts.

Maintaining my sanity by building a new shed for the bikes, and burning brush piles. Hope I can score some cheap trees to plant. Wanted to do 4K doug fir this winter/spring.

Looks like my spruce reprod may be recovering from the worm infestation. Many of them have tipped up a new leader and don't show the worm damage. Here's hoping.

SlowP, yes, Burvol got the whole introductory offer on Tan Oak. The price for pulp had tanked, so we used it to richochet the fir off to save the fir.

My hope was to get a infestation of the Sudden Oak Death that was moving though, but no...all my oak is healthy and refuses to die. Got any SOD bugs you can send me?
