Calibrating A Torque Wrench

Good tip. One would need to figure out where you palm, hand or fingers are on the wrench and use that spot consistently and calibate to that spot. Most just get it close and maybe all 4 head bolts end up with different values, but maybe close enough.

Most tourqe specs have plus and minus to get you close.

Like your method to see if the wrench is even close. Loosen the adjustment after use.
 
I think this method introduces an error ,
which becomes rather significant especially if the calibration is done with low weight .

The OP secures the torque wrench horizontally on to a vice.The wrench itself has a mass
(weight) which is already applying some torque to
the clicking device.

By calibrating a torque wrench this way ,
you will be always tightening with more torque than the preselected value.
