sprocket on 28" bar imploded cutting popular never had this happen before apart from melting a few 335 bars...is the bar tip replaceable?....should i just bin it and get a new one?

bar

It is a replaceable tip so it can be replaced but what condition is the rest of the bar? It might not be worth it.

The bar doesn't even look that old, i can still see the blue Husqvarna. Dumb qustion but did you ever grease the tip ??? I think oregon tips will fit husky bars, but it's like ED said, is it worth it.

They do fit, as the replacable tip Husky bars are rebadged Oregon PowerMatch..... :)

Does anyone know if the nose sprocket alone can be replaced, as on the ProLites?

Yup! It can be replaced, husky bars are oregon. So that would be a oregon powermatch. You see that single rivet in the middle of the bar on the tip? Take a hole punch and punch that out and go to bailey's or anywhere that has one and get another rivet and put the new tip in place. Hey look 400 posts!:hmm3grin2orange: :biggrinbounce2: ;)

Sometimes you just get a bum tip! That is the only way I can decribe it. I had one fail on a origon bar that had only seen about two hours worth of cutting. I always grease my tips although I think it is more peice of mind than anything. I recently bought a pro champ bar from Bailey's and it had a gritty feel right out of the box after some grease it was smooth and works fine.

Maybe too much BEER!

Why not just editing it, instead of double posting?????

Too much  :givebeer: again? :hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange:

Sorry SawTroll there is no kit to replace the nose sprocket alone. The entire tip has to be replaced.

Here is a warning to all those using Power Match tips.
We are seeing a lot of Chinese copies of the Power Match tips.
The copies are very hard to tell from the original because they copy the "look" very well. They copy them right down to the OREGON date code. Some packages even have the name Power Match on them.

The problem for you is they are a bit clueless on the internal components.

Be careful who you are buying from, just because it may look like the shape and construction of a Power Match tip does not mean it was made by OREGON.

saw troll your link was just what i was after all i have to do is find a bar tip to replace it with!.........the bars not that old, infact i havnt evan de burrred it,it has been abused quite badly in taking down stumps low and stumps full of metal ect and i dont think its ever been greased but i have not on any of my oregan bars for years! spose i might have to dig out the grease bar gun and give them a regular goin on ..........but if a tip is third the price of a new bar its worth doing.

cheers mat

I thought so, just had to ask - just in case......;)

I have read about that elsewhere......:bang: :bang:

Btw, I have never had any complaints about the quality of Oregon products, except that the last few H42/73LP chains I obtained needed to have the rakers filed 5-10 strokes to get them to the right higth - not a big issue really, once you know about it......

Did you check the raker height with a gaugit tool or by the feel during cutting??
