Can I use Wildthing bar on Remmington saw?

If you want a cheap saw that does OK cutting wood I agree.

OTOH if someone is going to endlessly extol about how it is better than a comparative Stihl I believe a reality check is necessary. It's like the Council Tool maul all over again. We saw how well that ended up.
Define better? Is better always the most hp?

In comparison to an MS271 it is made of similar materials, I'm seeing weight specs of 13 vs.12.3lb for the MS271. The Stihl finally has a strato engine which the Poulans have had for years. You do not read about melted cases on the PP5020, because it has an outboard clutch and a metal clutch cover. The Poulan does not have bar studs that thread into plastic. The Stihl may have a better air filter. I don't doubt it has less power than the Stihl, but how much less does it cost?

I'm not the one making those claims, but the person who is has a blatant issue with ownership bias. Just trying to keep the proverbial BS to a limited amount in here. And those claims about it performing well in hardwood with bar buried....well I saw that very saw fail miserably. And I know darn well that chain was lazer sharp too so that's not a valid excuse.

I also know that a 5020 feels like a heavy, poor balanced, underpowered POS compared to a Husky 450. Not even in the same ballpark.

Well, I have an ms250 here, if I ever get a pp5020 I'll run them side by side, see how that goes.

I've never run one but I've got a friend who cuts A LOT of hardwood with a 025. I'll bet my money on the German.
Lol - my Dad gave me his defective MS250. I fixed it and gave it back because my Poulans were better (and faster) - he paid $409 for that thing.

The main comparison is it is good enough to cut a lot of firewood and only costs 200 bucks new. For people who only need a few cord a year, meh, I'd take one over whatever 200 dollar husky or stihl is out there new.

My 5020 accompanied me on every tree removal job I had last year. Most of the wood I kept, but some I bucked for the homeowner for them to keep. I can't put a number on the cords this thing cut, but it was a lot. Never had an issue with the saw, unless I clipped a rock on the bottom of the round I was cutting through at the time. I run Klotz synthetic oil through it. Only thing that needed a lot of attention was the air filter.

^^^^^^That, right there, would get you into a whole lot of hot water in the chainsaw forum :crazy2: :D
LOL Sorry for the rant. It just gets a little old when "Mr. My Tools Are The Best" continuously spreads his propaganda around this site. Especially when I saw firsthand that those tools don't perform as claimed.

Nah, you don't have to worry about it man. I know you and CTYank don't see eye-to-eye on some things (especially the whole council tools maul thing). But in my book Yank is A-Okay. Hell, anyone that goes out and cuts their own wood and splits it is fine in my book (and still probably tougher than 99.99% of the population that doesn't) . Doesn't matter their political preferences, views on global warming, certain leanings towards one tool or another nonwithstanding. I think I'd take a day of B.S.ing with any member on here face to face if I had the chance.

Well after having met the guy in person and cut wood with him, I can say that I don't agree. It's not the fact that the guy has strong opinions that I have a problem with, it's the issue that he pushes his choice of tool ad nauseam with his little infomercials when people didn't even ask.

But I do think I could get along with 99% of the other folks on here.
