Or you might just get lucky to find a NOS filter.

I happened to ask my dealer if he had an airfilter assembly for an 028.

He had 2. I bought them both. He said the've been sitting on his shelf for 20 years. I got one for my 028AVEQ Super, and one for my Dad's 028AVEQ Wood Boos. :)

Here is the new next to the old...

Gary

Thats odd Gary. Around here there seems to be 028's all over the place. I sell alot of those air filters. Mid Atlantic Stihl still stocks them. They cost a bundle though, $31.50. Oddly again the buyers never complain, they think those old 028's are worth whatever they need. I've seen many many old 028's still running like new but beat all to hell on the outside. Mid Atlantic Stihl even stocks air filters for the old geezer 031 and 032's. On the east coast here all three of those models were very popular..

Old Geezer??? That's Harsh Tom...

My 031AV is the 'newest' design currently in my stable (although I have saws that are older designs that were built much later..........think Super XL-AO). How much does Mid Atlantic get for their 'new' old geezer 031 air filters? Do they have a website? I'm putting an NOS jug and piston in my old warhorse (for sentimental reasons) and would like them to last a while. The filters I have are a bit tired...:D

A 031 is your newest, dayummm man you need to stop by and see ole daddy and let me get you up to date,LOLOL

Mid Atlantic Stihl is a distributor, only dealers can acces their site.

The air filter for the 031 is so old they sell it in halves,LOL, seriously they do.
The rear half, the nearest to the carb, is 1113-120-1612-$11.80
The front half, nearest to the cover, is 1113-120-1602, no longer available, they must have finally sold the last one they had. They still have the rear half in stock.

I got a super nice 031 at the shop that a man left and never did come back and get. Its been almost a year now. You come get a new saw and I'll toss in that 031 as a treat for ya, it runs good and has a nice air filter on it....

They probably originally flocked those filters using electrostatic equipment, but I can't see why you couldn't reflock an air filter by using a light coat of spray adhesive such as the 3M stuff, and using a fine flocking in the appropriate color meant for flocking jewelry boxes and the like.

That figures Tommy. Guess they had to sell out of 'em eventualy. I'll be in the market for a new brushcutter long before I need a 'new' saw. Telllyawhat.........If I buy a new FS110 from you, would you still throw in that 031?:D

Aaron, if you go visit Thall, let me know Ill ride up for a visit too.

Hey Tommy, got any orange toys :)

Well Zach, next time I head towards the other end of the country, I'll be sure to stop by to see you and yer Dad. We can take a 'side trip' up to Tommy's place while we're at it. It'd certainly be a crime not to...

Fantastic! Now for the hard part. Gotta convince the boss's (both at work........and at home) that I need to take a trip to 'Ol Tommy's place. Gotta take enough time that I can rent a car and drive back with my new toys. Saving my pennies now...:D

wouldn't the spray adhesive clog up the openings? where would one find fine flocking such as used for jewelry boxes

Should be able to make your own adapter. I don't see how hard that could be. Fabrication is one of the most important and valuable skills someone could possibly have.

Oh and... FLOCK YEAH!

I have a pile of those I got when I bought some stock from a retiring dealer......been on my shelf for only 5 years but most likely another 15 on his!
So I have a bunch available, should anybody be looking for some. AS member shipping only deal.

All 16 of them are now gone.

I do it all the time, when I check my air filter and it's reall dirty, I say Flock this air filter and toss it.

A lot of great replies. thanks. This one was my favorite even if it wasn't the most helpful.
