Sometime in the last week or so this topic was discussed, can't find it BUT I've got the flyer in front of me.

MS 180C 329.95
MS 250 449.95
MS 250C 499.95
MS 290 479.95
MS 260 599.95
MS 361 749.95

Prices include 1 spare chain, carrying case, a STIHL hat, and a chainsaw safety DVD

All saws prices with 15/16" bars

the GST is "Goods & Services Tax". a nifty way for the CDN guvmint to tax us even more on top of sales taxes.

The GST was supposed to be removed, but the guvmint could'nt get enough of that cash at the taxpayer funded feed trough, and decided to keep it, breaking their election promises...

and because Canadians are a passive bunch and like to roll over and simply take it up the  , the tax has stuck. Had more Canadians had the cojones to stand up and protest the tax, we would'nt be paying such a tax.....

sorry, had to rant.

All those socialist, nanny state programs need to be paid for somehow.

No, those prices don't include taxes. Don't forget the exchange rate, it's not QUITE as bad as it looks. Right now I think you can knock off about 12 to 15% for a US dollar.

As for the taxes, they might be high, but at least we don't have millions of people without basic health care coverage!

PST is provincial (same as state), GST is federal , replaced a hidden manufacturer tax so at least now you see the tax, better that way than a tax you pay but don't see!

Anyone in business that pays GST on stuff for the business can claim back the difference between what they pay out and what they collect.....

(paid 3000, collected 10,000, only send 7000 to the gov't.......)

Saws still aren't cheap! Why do you think mine are all used? I'm cheap, and there's no tax when there's no paper trail! :biggrinbounce2:

no... they are as bad as they look!!! For example - a MS180 sells here LIST for $US199...

It's o.k., that saw in Switzerland is over $600...

Wow. Speechless. Your getting pounded from both ends. I hope you get to go to the doctor a lot and for really really expensive procedures. Perhaps all gold teeth from the dentist, that way you could be gangsta loggin.

Prices in Holland, in euros:

ms 170 - 199,00
ms 180 - 255,00
ms 210 - 360,00
ms 250 - 470,00
ms 270 - 539,00
ms 280 - 609,00
ms 290 - 499,00
ms 310 - 539,00
ms 390 - 609,00
ms 341 - 739,00
ms 441 - 1015,00

these came from the Autum folder i picked up at my local dealer.

But last week i was in France and in one of their giant department stores, the famous Mr. Bricolage, i saw a MS 390 for 719,00 euro !!!!!!:dizzy:

One euro is about 1,26 Us dollar.

I didn't start it! What was that comment about socialist nanny state programs? Sorry, but I believe we are ALL our brother's keeper. Yes there is abuse, but you can say that about anything. At least I know that my 71 year old mother (who retired from ONE of her jobs on her birthday this month) won't die because she couldn't get/afford insurance!

I know they're dear! That's why I posted. Problem is for me to buy out of the states, by the time I pay the shipping and the customs fees I might as well buy here.

I might also add the as a Canadian resident I am elligible for OHIP. I chose to purchase health insurance in the US because the standards of care in Canada just cant compare with what is offered in the US. I have a daughter in the hospital as we speak that would be dead if she had been born in Canada.

I find the part about your daughter being dead if she was born in Canada hard to believe. I'll agree that our system is not perfect (although it would be better if Ottawa actually enforced the Canada Health Act). We'll just have to agree to disagree or this will go on forever.

I think the biggest part of the higher prices here is the volume of product moved. We've got 30 million people spread over a larger area than the Americans have 300 million spread over.

Believe it. The disorder she has is very rare and the top three places in the world to get treatment for it are all in the USA.
The procedure that they did on her to fix the problem hasnt even been done in Canada yet, not to mention the fact that its very likely her condition would not have been caught untill it was too late had she been going to a canadian hospital for prenatal care.
