Logrite is also making a 78in now that has a bigger hook. I have three different sizes and a carrier. They are by far some of the best money I have spent on tools. Simply indestructible!! We had a log stuck that was probably about 40in. I had the big hook on there and was literally bouncing my 250lbs off of it and it didn't bend break or anything but just moved the log.

Heres some pics of a pickaroon in operation, I hope you's can see how one is used and how much easier it is to move around wood. If I had to bend over to move all that wood, rather than use the pick to pick it up.....one word "sore back"

I take it that you can use the axaroon to roll over large logs to finish a cut? That is sort of what I am hoping to use it for when cutting firewood. Looking for the ability to smack it into a log, get the leverage to roll it over and so on... all in a much smaller package than a peavy. Now, when I say logs, I am talking about nothing over 24 - 28 inch logs.

i got this lil gem, from Lee valley Tools. Its made in Austria, very well imight add.

saves my back like you would'nt belive....so easy to grab a round or a log to carry or position. 20" handle. i no longer have back pains form bending over to pick up split firewood. I'm getting a second one for the other hand, so i can rapidly load firewood into the truck, sooo much faster.

By the way, the Pickarooooon above is made in Austria by STUBIA, a world famous mountaineering company, that make ice axes, etc. The Pickaroooooon :)biggrinbounce2: I LOVE that name) pictured above is hot FORGED. Extremely well made, ultralight. The pickaroon head is a direct copy of an old STUBIA ice axe, they never changed the design, it woks that well on wood and on the ice.

blatant product endorsement i know...but hey... i a VERY happy camper with it.

Chainsaw Master covered the picaroon very well
You asked if you can roll logs with one, Yes you can.
The pickaroon is a poor mans Skidder, Great foe dragging logs
Cut your top of log then stick the picaroon in the log and pull up.
don't try to use it as a pry bar or the hook will come out of the log.

the Timber jack is a nice tool also. with larger logs.
I cut the T handle down two inches, and put a different cant hook on it.
I can roll larger logs easier.
