Stihl 066 duel port exhaust. If you choke to start instant flooding. Start it by pulling on run then put it on warm start. Idles good after little warm up. Accelerates good, max rpm's 4 strokes like it should. Light tan plug color. Clean air filter. Guessing maybe needle replacement, carb rebuild. Figure you guys will have an instant answer.

I would start with a carb kit or a new carb and go from there. Is the tank vent in good shape? No air leaks anywhere right?

The big carbs used on Stihl saws are pretty much bullet-proof. Never found one that could not be rebuilt, so don't go buying a new carb just because you can.... Kit it... then pressure test it etc..

What do I need to look out for on tank vent I assume cracks or plugging? Would have to check for air leaks I would have to rig something up.

Dead simple... empty the gas, and drain the fuel hose/filter... Apply a small vaccum to the fuel hose and the vent shoudl let air into the tank. Later vents will also stop pressure from leaving the tank. What style vent do you have?

I am planning on getting the rebuild kit. Im trying to learn as much technical info as I can. Carb kit seam simple enough.
Ill look at vent tommarow. thanks lake.

Awakened the beast.

Rebuilt the carb little adjusting starts like it should now. Hurray first chainsaw repair. Saw was starving for fuel inlet screen was totally clogged. Answers that problem.
