I no its not much to go on but there are clear characteristics to I'd this wood. If you know the tree.
you got it.Sassafras? I don't believe I have ever seen sassafras more than about 4 inch diameter. Maybe I haven't been looking.
Root beer would maybe be more appropriate to set on a table made from it.

Had me a Sarsaparilla soda last night actually. Fred Meyers sells some "designer" sodas and I usually get a couple bottles of different ones to try out when I buy groceries.
I watched a show about some trees getting cut down in the jungles just for the roots and part of the bark. They boil it and it makes safrole oil, which sassafras trees have. I think Exstacy (however it's spelled!) is made from it?
