Saw a 2700-4 today and was wondering what the difference is between the 2700-4 & the 2500-4?

2500-4 25HP Kohler 2700-4 27HP Kohler.

27 instead of 25 gives it about 9% more power.

Maybe it was replaced or maybe it was right before they changed the name. The 27 horse kohler is a direct bolt on replacement for the 25 horse one.

I installed a 27 horse on my Rayco 1625 instead of going with another 25 horse.

Wasn't replaced, must have been right when they made the switch.

I used to be a Kohler dealer a few years back. The 25HP and the 27Hp Kohlers can be interchanged on many types of machines with ease. however, it is doubtful that you will notice any power difference in the two engines. About the only difference I could ever see, was that the 27Hp used a little more fuel /hour. so, 25 vs 27? About the same, go with whichever you can get the best deal on, if you happen to be buying an engine for a repower project.
