One of my guys picked out the new stump grinder he wants us to get. Carlton 4012 with a 44 HP Kubota. I will be trading in a 630B Vermeer. Any thoughts on that Carlton model?

4012 is an awesome machine. doesn't compare to a 352 or a 1625

We had a 252 for a while and didn't like it too good. James over at Carlton says the 4012 with a 44hp Kubota is twice the machine the 252 is. Twice? Man if it is we will love it.

ive used the 252 for 1 day while my carlton 4012 33kubota was being serviced... it was like watching paint dry! id have to use 3 252 machines to get the same results my 4012 kubota gives me! i cant tell you how much i appreciated my machine after that experience! the remote control should be standard on this machine as i cant imagine not having it. make sure your lug nuts are tight on the tapered rear hydraulic motors, as they have a tendancy of shearing the woodruff key, and good luck trying to find the properly sized key!!

Hey stump-dude, the remote is not standard on this model. The sales guy told me if I was the only one using the machine he would get the remote. When I told him there would be 2 or 3 different guys that would be running it and none of them are me he said he would go with the standard controls. What is your opinion?
