I'm still snooping around for larger wheeled stump grinder to go with my 8018. I've noticed a few 7015 carltons without remote that operate with conventional valves. How are they to operate? How is the visability to what you are grinding? I realize remote is nicer to run but I'm looking at the price difference and I also like the simplicity of conventional valves. Thanks

i have 4400-4 and have no problems seeing. It's more just getting used to the controls but does a fine job.

I operate a Bandit 2100 grinder without remote and can't see the cutting wheel at all. I think you learn to run it by feel. I have a pretty good idea where the wheel is and go by the sound of the engine to see whether I'm cutting too much.

The times I have a bit of problem is grinding up to a wall or fence, you have to walk around to check or grinding parallel to something like a sidewalk which is on the opposite side of the machine. Yes, I've occaisonally nicked a sidewalk.

The other time I have a problem is walking the machine through a tight spot, where there isn't enough room for me to walk behind. I'll stand on the rear axle, but it's a pain.
