Im posting this so others can keep an eye on there machines.

Slew rams torn from chassis

Please do not think they are not well built as they are however anything operating in this environment could be subject to failure.

I will post pics of repair tomorrow.

Hi Sbusta, how many hours on your machine and it's age ? I had two small bolts that hold the ram pin in place shear. Had always wondered about the effect long term of the build up of stone and earth behind the swing rams and when finished for the day I use the blower to remove the stone etc. My kubota 8018 is now 11 mths 530 hrs will have a good look during the day.

Dave K machine is late 2005 1st job was March 2006, its done 600hrs. the machine gets blown down after each job & water blasted monthly

Wow! Looked over your pics. and this looks like a major bill for repairs. Looks like the machine had to be taken down to the frame. i have a 7015 carlton so i know how strong they are built. i have been thinking about a tracked machine but i think i have changed my mind now. thanks again for all the pics. probably saved me thousands of dollars.

Hi Howel07264 I haven't had the bill yet but expect it to be around $800. I know the fabricator well so was able to do the strip down & rebuild myself. I drove into the shop @ 7.30am & left running @ 6.30pm. I replaced all filters & oil @ the same time. We added a roll cage to the machine this was to prevent engine damage when we rolled it onto its side but something I have been meaning to do anyway.

I have been contacted by a carlton employee who has told me that machines built from 2006 have re engineered in this area as this has happened before.

Sbusta,in and out in 12 hours,im impressed. Sounds like you need to be on a Nascar team. It seems like everytime i have a breakdown i am waiting several days for parts. A Roll cage sounds like a good idea.i have never rolled my machine but try to be as carefull as possible. One thing i did do is mount a 10000lb. winch on my machine. seems like i use it at least twice a week to get out of the mud or up a steep bank.

Sbusta, had a good look at my 8018 and as factory said there a plate much the same as your repair behind the rear of ram weld point. I would be happy that it will hold up ok as after nearly the same hours in almost half the running time my heavier engined machine is ok(touching wood as saying that !!). Not much help to you I know ! other than that you seem happy with the 8018 ? I've decided to upgrade to the new 8124 HYDRO as I work on my own it will give me faster turn around, I'm still very pleased with my 99hp 8018 and can't recommend it enough .Are you still running greenteeth, how are you finding them ?

Sbusta, I have a 7015Trx and it did the same thing. I bought my machine late 2005, too. My machine broke Aug/Sep 2006 with around 600 hrs. Carlton sent a kit to fix which included a plates, gussets and a slug ( a 5 inch diameter solid bar to weld in between the plates). The parts were sent free and they paid $400 toward labor, which was about half of what it cost.
I still would not trade it for another brand, though.
