Thanks for all the great ideas guys!

I think I am going to do some under body boxes for straps, tools and chains. I am also going to do one of those rear hitch racks for when i don't need to pull a trailer. For the times I do need a trailer I will likely build a wooden box to attach temporarily to the over cab section of the dump body.

Thanks!

Build a box or a rack up on the dump body headboard? The best option would be the frame mounted tool boxes I'd say.

Building a box for the cab guard on the head board is a really good thought but its a PIA to work with IMO. I tried it on my dump (82 F350 2wd) mounted an s-10 truck box up there and was great getting out to the woods but a pain to load again when the truck was full. Mine is a POS so I used to throw everything up on the hood and then climb up on the hood and load the tool box. I'm 6'-2" and couldn't find a better way to do it other then cutting everything, loading the box then loading the truck and I seemed to always end up needing something out of the box. :bang: The other thing with the box on the head board is it dumps when the truck dumps and stuff goes everywhere inside.

I didn't want the lower boxes cause I thought that they would get hung on stumps, rocks, branches etc and I would have had to take the bars off of the saws to put them in the box. For chains and gear they are great though. I ended up just putting the saws in the cab, axes & mauls behind the seat and all the chains in an old army rocket box I throw under the last row of wood in the back with the gas and oil.

Really like the 2" receiver ideas but mine doesn't have one just a combination pintle hitch. Do those receiver carriers get hung up on stuff out in the woods?
