Do any of you guys offer cat rescue? I do just for fun, but I don't hear of many others that do. I'd like to hear if anyone else does.

I was going to say something but decided not to. There have been some interesting suggestions of methods of getting the cat back on the ground!:chainsaw:

Didn't "The Dan" hit a parrot or something with his throw bag doing a rescue??? or an i thinking of something else

That would be me!

Yep, I got the bird. I was pretty proud of it, too, since I expected to never come close.

I tried a cat some years ago from my bucket truck. Silly thing ran from me, no matter what I did. I have heard of fellows putting a live catch trap in the tree, along with some food and water. That should work real well.

Come back later, remove the trap and the cat !

If you hate cats, just forget to tie the trap onto the branch. :greenchainsaw:

Cat rescue....

I do cat rescues. I'm on dan krauses website: catinatreerescue.com. Iv'e done two so far. With both I climbed up the cat came to me. I put the cat in my rope bag and down the cat went. Pretty easy and good PR. The people gave me a few bucks too which was nice. It's interesting and rewarding. They always seem to be in the rain though which sucks. Mike

Yeah, I'm on the same site. Rescues are fun.

I offer crane service to kitty cat rescue in my yellow page ad. Haven't had anyone call me for one in over 10 years. I got one down several years ago. It dug it's claws into me pretty good on the way down but other than that it was pretty uneventful. I also helped a woman capture her cat that got loose in a walmart parking lot last year. It kept running under cars and I finally caught it for her. I gave her a card and she called me to work on her trees.

I don't offer it persay but I'm on the Cat In A Tree Website, and have rescued about a dozen a more this past year. There are a lot of big pines round here and they always manage to climb into the 'twiggy' stuff at the top. Cats are insane! It's very rewarding reuniting them with there owners though.

It's a myth that they can always get doen from a tree ( they could jump and break lots of bones) I rescued one in the middle of December just past that had been in the tree since thanksgiving (unbelievable!) noone knew whos cat it was. It was looking really sick, and the limb it was on was covered in poop and fur. Poor thing. It came to me quite willingly!

SNAP! fair play to you Mike. I had no idea that so many cats need rescuing. Every one I seem to go to has been there for at least three days.

Do you use the sack with a glove in the corner that you turn inside out when you have the cat in your hand? It works like a dream.

Actually, I have seen a couple photos of dead cats in trees. Both the same, cat caught in a tight crotch at its armpits and it suffocates.

I'm not a cat lover, but I've heard firemen condescendingly echo the "dead cat...." BS so many times it has to be their most stale joke.

So, Dan Kraus has the system down, the bag and glove are the way to go.

Why do it? Yeah, the cat may downclimb after a few days, but every night the owner is going to be stressed out about it. Your service is giving someone a little peace and comfort. That's what makes it worthwhile.
