That's a really good idea!

That must have also been the start of your firewood business too huh?

We did get a lot firewood from that job, This Firewood business was
started by my dad back in 1965 and I took it over in 1985

I suppose that would work now-a-days just as good as it did back then.

Did you have any spectators? I bet you they were loving watching those 100ft trees come-a flying. Great invention. Build a bunch of them and patenet them
Yes it would work today but I would make it adjustable.
Not to manny people in the cemetery above ground. LOL
Some of the guys that worked for the cemetery watch at different times.

I bet cliff would love to have a GTG cutting competition at his place. Have you seen the pile of logs about 20 foot high there??

only deal is you got to cut 16 to 18" cookies:)

1986 huh Cliff.. thats when I migrated to so cal. Was working out of irwindale running lowboy and end dump tubs. Demolision and dirt work.

ran that 605 quite a bit and hauled lots of demo into the rose hill landfill.
always remember those gas burner flames around the site..

So you drove up and down the 605 back then and never stoped in.

Do you still have that old boom truck?
Yes I do but its not running anymore, It had 396 engine that I put in it
And I put the boom on that truck. Had to rework it some so it would fit.
The boom came from a small barge.

There was allways work to be done at the Cemetery back then.
After a few more jobs there that I needed to bid on they
just wanted me to do the work. just had to give them a price
and then do the work. After a few years doing jobs there they wanted
us to work three days a week at a price per day. This worked out well
As time went on they wanted us over there full time five days a week
and six at times. The price per day was a little less then doing other
jobs. The good part was I could dump all the chip loads on there
property. So no dump fees and no running all over bidding on jobs.
Plus I got all the Firewood most was pine but here in CA lots of
people like pine. It does not get that cold here. I had a 17 year run
at the Cemetery until new owners came in and everything changed.
The new owners wanted us to have way more Insurance but they
did not want to pay me any more per day. So that was the end for me
there. It was time for a change for me anyway. Now im just selling
firewood and collecting and restoring vintage chainsaws.

Heres some pics of some trees that went down we cleaned up.

Great idea and good thinking. That is what built this country.:yourock:

One time we had to get all the debris out of a back yard and then new mulch into the back yard. Trouble is one side of the house was a steep rocky bank and the other was covered with a beautiful blooming ground cover. Homeowner said we could walk on it but not to mess it up too much since she liked the blooms. There was no way we could do that job with wearing a bare dirt cowtrail into that groundcover.

So off to the lumber store I went. First morning on the job we pounded in surveyors stakes to hold up a sixty foot long walkway above the groundcover. It was two 2x12 planks wide. There was a wooden stake on each side every two feet. Held together like a dream. We built it out working from the completed portion of the walk way and took it down the same way. When we were done you couldn't tell we had worked over the top of the groundcover. Homeowner was very happy.
