i was wondering if somebody could tell me what differinttype of filing angles that you use for each kind of wood we usually cut popple or pine and hemloch in our competitions so it is really softer wood

TITAN NOW I KNOW WHERE YOU LIVE DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR AND GET A CHAIN
SPEND THE $150 AND GET A CHAIN FROM GILLES OR PHONE WOODLAND AND SEE IF HE HAS ANY LEFT HE SHOULD HAVE LOTS OF SPARES

hotsaws

anyone one out there familiar with 166 dolmars , i have one stroked running on nitro built by marcelle vincent.

you do not have to file diffrent for diffrent wood. one chain set up right will cut all wood. rj selaf:D

How in the H#ll would I know , I donot have the saw in front of me to see what is going on , you say fuel is leaking , flying or spraying , now is this out the bore of the carb or in between the carb and the jug or what , I know Gilles put it together the beginning of last year so it should be all right when he put the new piston in it

Now this is happening when you hit the throttle right, when you go from low rpm's to high rpm's correct and you have fuel spraying out the bore of the carb, that is caused by a big intake port and your saw most likely was made to cut over the block, it does not cold start well ?
Or your needle is done , alcohol does not like carb parts and it will eat the rubber on some needles , when you nail the gas how long does it take for it to clear the motor out

FUEL

yes your right its when i hit the throttle to . but i notice its worse at idle, when i crack it open it clears up.

fuel

where would i get one of these needles, would you have to look at the carb or just a carb #

sorry 166 , had to go to work , if you have a Marcel carb on your 266 it will be a stock needle that should have been modified on the sides , now it may not be on yours because your saw is quite old but Marcel has always modified the needle in any carb i have worked on but to know all you got to do is pressure test the carb , if it will not hold then your needle is shut plus you should put a carb kit in any how
Now what kind of fuel are you running , i beleive you are running 100 plus right so if your carb is meant to run 120 fuel your low will be way to fat for that fuel

fuel

last summer i run120 or 125 not sure. i got the fuel from marty merrill a friend of mind. my next question is what carb kit do i need, do i go by the carb ser.# or are thes 3120 carbs modified.PS EDP Thanks for answering my questions.

i would think you would have a HS carb on a 266 because that saw was made before 3120's were even made unless someone change the carb, is the fuel that you use in the 266 different than your 166 cause i know it is 100 plus that your 166 is running on
it could just be your fuel is not as good as it once was , if any sunlight got to it you should change it, that will make you run real rich if the fuel starts to go bad

let me know when this show is this month and i will try to come down cause i have promised Paul that i would be down to his place, then i can see what is going on with the saw

fuel

EHP. i run same fuel in both saws. alcohol and nitro is new to even though i have run saws for years but only gas mods. last big gas mod i had was a 750 homelite which was really fast. it was built in the US. sold all my saws 7 years ago , just started gettin back at the contest 2 yrs ago. i guess i got the fever again.

so that could be your problem cause i know the 166 is running 0n 100 fuel , Moral told me that so most likely your 266 is set up for fuel with nitro in it like 110 or 120 but 110 would make more sense, May 15 count me in , Woodland get that fridge full i am a coming and hungery ,

saws

its good to hear that their will be some new competitors at the next contest. i will be there if i find some fuel if not i just watch.

i will have lots of fuel with me so just let me know and i will bring some , you need to be there to see how our slow saws run against yours and those 088's
