Chain storage

I need some ideas for chain storage. Like sharp/needs sharpened or some kinda case you can take out in the feild. I got some chains haging around and need a good way to keep better track of them.

put each chain in a Ziploc bag to keep moisture and dirt out while you store them or take then in the bush as spares.:msp_smile:

Hang em on a nail or long screw in your shop.

Nails.Scribble on the wall what they are. Type, links, gauge, pitch.

On the other end of the shop near the bench, the "need sharpening" nail.
Once they are filed back to usefull, they get hit with the caliper and verified for gauge, and hung back where they belong.

I like the kind of flat/round chinese food containers for storing them in the truck and in the field.

something like this:

I saw a guy used a compartment style tool box in yellow and black with a clear front and you could size compartments to your needs. He kept his files in there also which is a plus from breakage instead of the sawcases where the file can roll under the saw and get snapped . He took a sharpie and labeled gauges, pitch and length on the slide in pieces . It was on as just dont remember what I searched for when I stumbled on it. if im not mistaken I think it was four inches deep , which was plenty of room for multiples of each chain.

Turn 'em inside out first soe they don't scratch/cut your neck.
