excellent stats/pic. Wonder what the 2006 stats are!

Good idea, SRT-Tech, posting the picture of the injuries. Not everybody follows the links to the site.

It was the total number of injuries, 28,543, that got me started wearing PPE. That's a lot of trips to the emergency room for a relatively small number of users.

note injuries to hand is equal to leg.

that's truly strange is that seldom do you hear about hand injuries

Are all these hand wounds from a running saw or are some from filing? I have been cut, PPE only goes so far, lose the respect and POW!

Just wondering.
Are these injuries more external ?
It seems they would be.
But, does this also show those injuries that are
caused by repetative use of the saw ?
Something like tennis elbow, or pinched nerves in the shoulder,
or in my case lower back pain ??

O.K. Now I see these are accident related.
OOPS...

^ those locations on the body are representive of reported (ER) full on penetration injuries (where the skin is broken, or worse) by the chainsaw.

Guess I'll throw the other glove away and double up on the left hand!!!

I'd like to know the stats for 2006 also.

Maybe arborists one-handing the saw, and hold the limb with the other hand?

.......btw, there are protective gloves to be had out there (left hand protection only, I believe) - I bought a pair for the Witch some time ago.

Edit;
I have chainsaw resistant gloves, only the left glove has the stuff in it.

OOppps, didn't see that one, before I posted - at least we agree.....

who makes a good chain saw glove?

tried stihl glove, but could not stand it. left hand was really a mitten, not a glove

check for husky/jonsered gloves, i really like the comfort ones and triggerfinger mittens are good for cold weather...

So, I guess no one has castrated himself yet? I bet Gypo will change that. ;)

Before you can castrate yourself with a saw there are at least two prerequisites. First of all you must own and actually be using a saw and second, you need a set of nuts.;)
