I currently use Oregon brand saw chains, and was wondering if anyone could comment on the durability of Oregon versus any other brand. I find my chains don't last very long. Thanks

I havent used their chains. Who does your sharpening?

Try a couple loops of Stihl(RM/RMC) chain from your Stihl Dealer and see if they last better for ya.;)

Oregon chain dosn't hold up very well for me either, but I cut skidded wood and stuff that is gonna be hard on chain anyhow.

Oregon LGX cuts nice when sharp, but just dosn't stay that way long, and darn if I ain't finding that just about any full chisel chain is about the same.

Semi-chisel from Stihl and Carlton/Bailys is the stuff, even if it is a bit slow to cut initially compared to fresh Square ground.

In the end though, if not sharpened with the correct angles, nothing is gonna cut for beans for too long.

Good having ya posting!!!

Stay safe!

Thanks everyone for the replys. Stihl-O-matic, I do my own sharpening and try to follow manufacture specs as closley as possible. I did try the stihl chain and liked it, but my local dealer doesn't stock the roll chain and I like to make my own chain. How does Carlton chain compare to the stihl?

Thanks

Stihl chain is nice but expensive.,

the new Oregon chain seems to be a lot better.i used to use Stihl chain until the charged me $30 for a 20" loop.

sounds like you cutting dirty wood or going all the way though and hitting dirt.

i hear the Carlton is good chain.i should get some myself.
