ebay

ebay prices, well first off it is an auction ive been to lots of public auctions seen people pay ten bucks for a 3 dollar paint pan with roller and brush as far as chain saws I searched high and low for rebuild parts for my homie 925 and everyone saw no so I kept asking people on ebay and finally found what I needed probably spent too much at 150 clams but what else would I do sell as parts saw then buy new? I tryed to get a new rod even though I don't need it yesterday on ebay I bid 20 at the last seconds it went for almost 40 bucks wow supply and demand huh :greenchainsaw:

Sorry don, I needed the rod.

I have a brand new crank, Ive got bearings coming, crank seals, Piston and cylinder are fine (190lbs comp with old rings) All I need are two thin rings and Im up for a total rebuild.

Crank, $18 shipped.

Bearings/seals, (4+ needles) $45 shipped.

Rings, $$???? Figure $20-25 shipped.

Total cost of rebuild $98 clams. The $25 worth of shipping is what bugs me:dizzy:

The rod was the oddball as far as price but their hard to come by, hence the high? price. $36 For a rod made from genuine UNOBTANIUM, plus the fact that I only paid a $ more than someone else was willing to pay..........

Not too pricy considering the retail for the rod alone was over $70 from a dealer when there were such things.

Stick around and Ill throw you a bone if I ever see another.

using your head on Ebay

Buying on Ebay just takes common sense and a little luck. Always buy from people with LOTS of feedback. Also, if you see something you want- set a limit you will pay and stick to it.

i just nailed a Stihl MS880 for $750 in AWESOME shape. That's less than half price in my town.

I used to buy off e-bay often, about 5 years ago and got some good deals, lately I had a streak of bad luck with the cameras I won, so I have just swore e-bay off. I have watched the saws go for new prices and that doesn't include shipping. Some of those shipping charges are high.
I saw a belsaw chainsaw sharpener bring over 200 bucks; I have owned one for 25 years and can't help but wonder what was so valuable about an old Belsaw sharpener. Antique maybe. I enjoy looking, but e-bay bids are a bit steep for me.

Anytime you are buying from ebay or fleamarket etc you have to be able to keep your head. People are competitave by nature, they want to win and their minds they do even though they may pay hundreds more than they should.

I picked my 925 up on Ebay for $165, its not pretty by most standards but it has good comp (175-195 depending on the method used) and will cut all day without trouble.

Ive witnessed people buy this other guys saws where he puts :angry2:FLAME :angry2: stickers on all the saws he sells and his 925 sold for $325!!! And he was boasting of 150lbs comp.

Freakin .05c stickers neting $150 clams:dizzy: Puts them on all his saws and people go nuts.

Another thing is big bars an SXL-12 with a 26" bar sold for nearly $250

I seem to do all right, but I simply say, Im bidding this much and thats it.
Well said . Its not just Ebay , i go to local auctions around the state and you see people buy used stuff for 130% of new retail . Crazy . Every one need to set a price of what they want to pay as a buyer and if it goes higher ... then move on. Also when poeple talk about stuff on ebay and post links on forums , talk up about a seller , tell who is selling what and how good of a deal they got ...........well, every body that reads the post is going to dead head to where the item was talked about. I too sell on ebay but not used stuff , i sell what i make/build as my local business and sell Ebay too . I track thread on different forums and if my items hits a thread somewhere and somebody talks about my item(s) i sell 4-10 time more that month than normal . Thats just the way it goes.

Unsure of the deal with your saw on ebay , but .... I have shipped many items to Canada over the years and also bought a few things from Canada . In my past experience with shipping i too have waited over a month for my items. When i shipped to Canada there have been more time than not that it took over 1 month to get to them. First take a deep breath. #1 Contact/email your seller. #2 request the sellers user information and get his phone # . #3 If paid through Paypal file a non delivery complaint . request tracking # . #4 if paid with a Credit card then contact your card co and let them know of the issue and the credit card will return your money and the card co will take care of the problem with the seller. Best of luck .

there's only one bid that counts... why people bid before the last ten seconds amazes me... love it when you're sellin'
