To Arboristsite members:

It has been brought to my attention that Henderson Settlement, (Methodist mission) in Frakes Kentucky is in need of chainsaws. I have been in contact with them, and they will take used equipment in good working order as well as new. Brands are not specific, they have a couple of shops close by for repairs and/or parts. I will also offer to get these units in good working order before they leave. My local church is sending 4 people to Frakes first week of May, and I will be sending the saws with them.

If you are interested in donating a chainsaw, please contact me via this message board. You can see what the mission is all about at: www.hendersonsettlement.com.

Thanks for your time.

Joe

Tony,

The settlement is requesting these saws for use around their farm and facilities. They are an appalacian outreach program for local families. They perform a lot of construction projects, roofs, new homes, etc., for the needy. It's all based around the Frakes area.

If you check the website, you can see a listing of the projects they have going on. They don't need modded pro saws, -homeowner models would be fine, they're only for occasional use.

fellas lets get behind this thing.. sounds legit to me.now u know some of u got saws that aint u favorites. i got one or two . il have to think about what im realistically gonna use . this back, shoulder thing is limiting me pretty much now.
not guiltin nobody ,as a man ought decide where he wants to go,with his efforts.
but heres a chance to contribute, just for the sake of somebody elses need.
without one little bit o gain fer u self..
try it, u older fellas know the reward is in doing it, nothin else.u create a better self.jmo
send me an adress to ship to joe..
ps joe just one thing . what size saws they need..also can these people handle a good saw ,with full chisel an such.

Thanks for the kind words Tony.

The skill set of the folks at the settlement are going to be varied. I would recommend anti-kickback type of chain to be supplied when available, but it's not mandatory. Maybe some safety gear (helmets and chaps) would also be good for donation.

The whole thing's legit, I'm not some newbie just in off of the street looking to rip off the AS members. If anyone wants to talk to me on the land line, PM, and I'll get a hold of you. The way I figure it, when most of the members here need a helping hand, they look on their other arm. This is a chance to help someone else.

Thanks,

Joe
