I'm going to be visitig Vancouver for a couple of days in mid September before going on to Alaska for a few days. Never been to either place but I was wondering if anyone had any spots relating to chainsaws or logging that are must see type places. Should be quite a place to see coming from the hot and dry desert.

If you have time, Grouse Mountain is a great place to visit as well..Glenn Greensides carved 16, 16' tall statues about the mountainside...some very nice work...the other place you would want to visit would be over on Vancouver Island..a place called Cathedral Grove near Naniamo and Walkers Saw Shop..
One other place, but probably too far for you is a little town called Bralorne...home of the Challenger Chainsaw Museum..I think(dont quote me) the largest collection in Canada..Mike Acres would know better...and there is a guy to get hold of....he has a collection of saws...you can reach him weekdays at Consolidated Equipment... (604) 294 6294, or look him up on the member list and email him...

Where are you headed to in Alaska...fantastic place!!!

Thanks for all the ideas. Dennis, I'm going on a cruise to the inside passage with stops in Juneau, Skagway, and Sitka. Going with some of my family who has been there before and say its fantastic. I'm also excited about Vancouver, have friends who have been and have been reading alot. Canada sounds like a great place. Found Nanaimo and Lighthouse park on the maps I have. Couldn't find Lynn canyon or Bralorne, where are they at and what part of town is Walkers shop in?

Paul...You will love Skagway, I used to spend alot of time there..

the Challenger Chainsaw Museum, is in a little town called Bralorne, just outside of Goldbridge, BC...Near Lillooet...you can drive up through the Sea to Sky highway, past Whistler...and over the mountain that way...about 5-6 hours from Vancouver I believe....

Lynn Valley is in one of the suburbs of Vancouver...cant remember exactly where.....

Walkers Saw Shop is in Naniamo...not sure what part of town...

But get hold of Mike Acres in Vancouver...he is your chainsaw man there...

Happy Trails!

Thanks again Dennis and everyone. The chainsaw museum will probably be to far of a trip for the short time i'm there but the rest of the places I can do.
Dennis, did you ever go on the White Pass Railway. Heard it was outstanding and am planning togo on it. Also, I'm interested in a Husky 385 or 395 later in the year or first of next year. Am comsidering strongly about having it modified. Can I e-mail you about prices and options?
