I've hit nails and other metal with Stihl, never broke any teeth but did take about 7 strokes to get the cutter back to shape. Cutting speed? The cutter stays sharper longer, cutting speed is prolonged.:monkey: I tried the LGX, and that is a good chain for the price. I don't pay msrp for Stihl chain either.

in fact i have a 017, 021, 028, 031, 041, 051, 455 rancher, 55 rancher, xl12 from the late 60 and a echo 500evl


bil owns a stihl dealership in nj

have used the stihl chains, and i can not justify the cost against the woodland pro chains i buy. they last the same, i can not tell a difference when cutting.....oh and at the end of the day it is still a tool i use to cut wood to heat my home. have 12 acers, and cut most every weekend.

yep full price, it is still a bussiness and he still needs to feed his family, pay his employees and make his overhead.
cut 12 cord so far this year... and can not tell the diffrence in chans, they are all mixed up so what ever i pull off the rack goes on my bar, don't have time to be fickle about chains. they all cut, and cut good.

Hey Jeep, maybe I took your post wrong. Did you think that listing all those saws that it makes you better than me? I got a few myself but I'm not a pro and don't claim to be. Got a littel echo, electric crapsmen, and I'm always on the lookout for good models to fix up and sell.



And just for the record, if it matters, I have sold more saws than you own this year.

nope listed those saw to show yes i do like stihl and own a few, (bought all used and had to fix up, since i can not afford a new stihl), but there are others out there that work as well.

i put on a timing chain on his jeep and he gave me a used eletronic ignition
for a 028.

but he also feeds me and lets stay at his house when i have to go down that way to bring my boys to scout camp. so it is a wash in the end.

Never bought a new saw myself either, I love to fix 'em up. Trying to get some stuff sold to buy a new trimmer before next summer(FS110).

got a pristine ms170, that a tree fell on, only used one time.
needed a handle and a cover 30 bucks. the think i like mose about stihls are that you can still get most parts. and some that are interchangeable.

Like the Stihl and Oregon both....

Seems like the Stihl stays alittle sharper ,but the Oregon's a close,,second....Run the Oregon's on my Mac's,,and I usally have to sharpen 2-1..Thats no biggie ,keeps me outta trouble.....LOL!!!
