I removed the 20' 5/16" steel aircraft cable from my More Power Puller tonight and changed it over to 35' of Amsteel Blue. Man, Amsteel is *awesome* in this application. Off came the twisted up, greasy and relatively heavy steel cable and on went the best invention to come to rigging in a long time. For those who have never used Amsteel, it is real nice stuff. Advantages:

1. safety. Amsteel stores ZERO potential energy. Should it snap, it will NOT whip back and hurt someone. It's hella strong though, so I wouldn't worry much about it snapping.

2. no grease. Call me a pansie but for some reason I don't like greasy nasty cable running through my hands

3. no splinters. Ouch. Enough said

4. weight. doing this change will reduce the weight of your rig.

5. It floats on water. if you dropped your come along in the middle of the Atlantic, the Amsteel WILL float to the surface should a sea creature bite if off the iron come-along body. This is a BIG benefit here. It's what sold me.

Invest in this change if you have the coin, it's real dope. Cost be about $100.

PM me if you want to know how to get it. And no, I do not sell it or have any financial interest in it.

As far as changing the cable goes, all you need it a hammer, punch, hacksaw (blade) or better yet a Dremel. Let's put it this way, if you can sell crack in the ghetto at 25% below market value on pay day, you can do this change yourself. It's that easy.
