I’m a firewooder on the cheap. Always have been, always will. That’s a big reason I heat with wood. Low heat bills are nice when it’s 12 degrees outside like now!
Not the biggest reason though, as I grew up in a big family going to the woods with my Farmer Dad and 5 brothers to cut growing up. And now I love sharing the experience with my 2 boys. It’s priceless!
But as I sit here tonight stoking my economic yet not super efficient US stove Hotblast 1557 $800 unit one more time before bed on its 15th year(while the house is 72), I’m reflecting on a new JD gator purchase Ive just made over the ole trusty 4x2 I’ve used for 12 years.
It’s faster, 4x4, and carries more. But in the 2 weeks I’ve owned it I’ve serviced it more with its many more newer parts to me and I hope I don’t regret the simplicity of my older 4x2. Just curious if anyone else has ever had a machine they miss? I will say getting to my woods 4 miles away faster with suspension is nice. Until it breaks. Lol
Cheers to old trusty!
