Cherry blossom tree experts out there?

Hello,

We've been shopping for a cherry blossom tree mainly Yoshinos to plant in our backyard. We have some pictures but can't decide which is the healthiest and has the best form. I'm surprised by how different they are. Some have already lost leaves some have more curved branches. They are all Yoshino except the last one is a cultivar of Yoshino called Akebono. Any options on which one we should go for? Thanks.

Get the ones grown in the field. Stay away from container stock.

Container stock usually OK if it looks healthy at place of purchase. Place in situ in container for a couple of weeks to let tree acclimatise. Give root ball generous frisk before planting, if roots are slightly pot bound prune off anything corkscrewed. If you prune roots prune tree as well, root system should be one third the size of tree in most fruit trees. Water in, don't fertilise, letting the small feeder roots look for food helps establish the tree faster. There's a wealth of information on varieties on university/ag college websites. Happy planting
