When I bought my elitist stove, the sales guy said, "Your chimney won't need cleaning because it burns so clean." Then mumbled, "I shouldn't say that." After 4 years of burning, I hired a chimney sweep. He worked on it, and got about a cup of nasty stuff. I was amazed. He did fix a little crack in the caulking that was causing water to dribble down on the stove top. That was worth it.
