So I bought a small 7" chipper that has a built on dump box. You can see the photo above. I am a small new company starting out and wanting to get on my own hustle after working for a large company for 4 years. I can't afford a huge chipper and big equipment, but wanted a nice starter set-up that will get me through small trim jobs and the occasional removal, but 75% trim work.
The only issue is the box that came on this chipper is very, very small. Obviously being a small chipper I need space to put the bigger wood that can't be chipped, and there's just not much room to work with. The box holds maybe 2 to 2.5 yards of mulch.
Now I need some ideas?
Option A: Try and build on to the box and make it bigger.
Option B: Throw the chipper on the front of a 16 ft. trailer and have 11 ft. box behind it to chip, place bigger branches.
Option C: Buy a chipper truck to pull it. (Can't afford it and don't want debt, so scratch this.)
