We are in the market for a new chipper. We have been running three bandits(two 250's and a 280) up to this point. We recently got rid of our oldest 250, we thought of getting a smaller chipper for our line clearance crew that is out every day. We demoed a 9" Carlton today, i was impressed with the chipper but, I think we are to spoiled with our 250's. We are demoing an 18" woodsman tomorrow and a 12" woodchuck next week. What are some opinions of those who have used different chippers on the market, I think we are leaning toward getting a chipper that is 12"-14" in capacity for the sake of versatility. What do you guys think are the best options????

Diltree, I would go with a 6" Chuck and Duck. Low maintenance, and unbeliveable board feet per minute ratios. Thats all we run. and we love them. Those self feed disk chippers take forever to chew up a branch. The chuck and duck not only chews everything up, but spits it right out.

This may be true, but our 12" cap. Eeger Beever (Morbark) will chew up quite a bit....and on longer drags it helps out by doing some of the work for you. Sure it's a bit slower...but I can cram that thing to the gills and just keep stuffing the chute without any issues. To each their own I say. Alot of people share your point of veiw, I just like being able to put larger material in the chute and reducing it to 3/4 chips! :)

BigUgly.....Gicon is messing with you: he loves BrushBandits...in fact he believes that they have been around for a while so they are the best. Well I just have to say to him; that if every one shared his attitude about products and services New England Tree would have no work

Chuck & Duck chippers are too dangerous! I agree they get rid of stuff awfully quick, however, they are not forgiving for humans. :blob6:

We demoed The woodsman 18X today.......i was extreamly impressed, it defiantly out chips our Bandit 280xp....maybe we will be switching to woodsman

It always humors me when someone with one year experience refers to themselves as a expert. Maybe you should rethink your company name...something like Boy Scout Tree, or Rookie Tree Services, or perhaps Greenhorn Tree Service; that has a nice ring to it. I actually personally ran an 18" leader right through the Woodsman with the use of our 40 Ton Terex 340XL( Because Greg knows very little about Tree Removal, I must specify the Terex is a type of crane, and when used by a professional can be used for tree removal)...the woodsman sucked the entire piece threw with ease. All joking aside, I have been running bandits since Greg was prepubescent, and the woodsman outperformed our 280xp

hmmm.....

What's Greg's experience got to do with changing the company name?

NE....it sounds like there may be speculation of ability's of the woodsman.......I am takeing the TreeGodFathers advice and trying to demo an altec. We will see they haven't returned my call up at altec

Ah.... but it's "New England Tree SERVICE", and I have been doing trees longer than you've been alive. =)
