I tried this in the large equipment section first but never received an answer so I am going to ask the questions here. I would like to get some information fast because the auction I am interested is on saturday.

Hi there guys,

I usually post over in the chainsaw forum but have a few questions about a upcoming auction featuring asplundh chippers and some chippers from Davey Tree.

Here is the site:

Now what kind of price ranges do these chippers go for? For example, what should I expect to pay for a running asplundh chipper? I know alot of factors effect the price of a chipper but if I could rough estimates, that would be great. Also, what should I check when examining the chippers. What problems should I look for?

I plan to buy one for a winter project and sell it in the spring on Ebay most likely or I will start a small tree company.

Thanks for all the help, I imagine if I get one I will be back many times with future questions.:dizzy:

I have a 12' Chipmore (pretty much the same thing). Take a good look at the engine oil (see if it's low, black etc...) look at the grease fittings and see if you can tell if it's been greased regularly, and the sheet metal. If all the tin is banged-up on it, chances are they didn't take very good care of it. The 300-6 ford is an awsome workhorse engine so you don't have to worry to much there. I paid $3500 for mine about a year ago. But the one i got had new knives, the tin looked brand new and had new Sunpro gauges in it. These machines are so simple theres really not to much to go wrong with them. Good luck

That is a huge amount of units to be sold at one time. You should be able to pick one up for a good price. From looking at the pictures it appears many it not all of the Asplundh units are parts ones. As noted before check them over very well as they will have parts missing. If I was closer I would love to be there as I have a older Whisper that I could use some parts for.

Bill
