now thats just sad. and you are in the 'river city' too.
I worked cincy up until about 5-6 years ago. still remember dropping over beechmont towards the levy in the rt lane and pulling on the 4 ways and stopping. never heard so many horns bowing from that one!
fun memories if you're not there anymore!

Funny how you just remember the good times ain t it? Ha ha. I remember not being able to get into a tree in a pasture in NJ cause one of those sheep w big curled horns (?) kept trying to slam me. Had to cold cock him in the jaw and he finally left me alone.

thats some sweet country living!

Sweet is exactly the word for it. Hey, was just trying for a crack-up sounding like a city slicker. I know it was a goat before someone tries to get me on it! Story is true tho. On my brother s farm they came out from NY city every hunt season and killed the elusive cow (deer in their minds).

What about the diagnostic and treatment skills and knowledge involved w keeping client's trees healthy in a much more challenging environment than rural or usually a natural or established setting. Was including city w suburbs.Pllenty of climbing here in way back where buckets can t go. Climbing and rigging much more complex w expensive fussy llandscapes, pools and buildings always (always) underneath. Practice makes perfect. Equipment operation in tight quarters developes refined skills. We ve boomed many a 3 foot diameter tree in pieces right over the roof on a million dollar property. In the country you limb them out a little, slam 'em, cut 'em up and push 'em into the weeds w your heel. Trying not to let my thread die yet.

More people mulch in the city. That's just smarter. Still not a very high percentage. And the areas need to be bigger. Here's hoping low maintenance, tree healthy landscapes become fashion.

My memories of the city are tree services following eachother to undercut eachother's bids. Services 30 miles north of me will travel the two hour trip to work in that rat race every day...I go there by invitation only, then I recommend one of the local services when I do. The Big Leagues....no. Industrious, ambitious, back-biting, cutthroat, rat race...that ain't the big leagues...that's just stupidity. Here in our rural setting we are more laid back.
We see another tree service working out here we stop to say hi, see how their doing, and more times than not share a beer later. A lot of times we exchange cards in case work is piling up faster than we can handle. Sometimes we compare notes on different jobs we bid on, or trees that need work.
Almost all of my clients have homes in the cities, and a lot of them have asked me to work for them there...almost NEVER happens.
Oh yeah, and I have over a dozen lakes within 15 miles of me, most of them with decent fishing. I'll take the MINORS.
