Kinda surprised I haven't seen a thread on a cat converter addition. Shouldn't be that big of a deal for some stoves that aren't loaded down with electrical gizmos and the like. Indoor wood stoves like my Dutchwest have had them for years.
Anyone experimented yet ? Great way to make everyone happy.. more heat, cleaner heat.. less wood consumption.

I'm all for improvements, best for the least amount of money. I went to that site, read it and noted the contents. All I know is for 25 years I've had the same stove with the same cat converter, same temp on the temp gauge, same clean chimney with zero replacements. I know cats normally only go for up to 10 years but mine is still functioning correctly. It shouldnt be but it is..
If I could put one in my owb that functions like this one I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Thats fantastic it has lasted so long for you, my parents had one that we had to replace the cat every few years. my experience with them in wood burning applications is limited to one stove.

My experience with Cat stoves is limited to ONE stove also.

My little earth stove insert.

I LOVE it.

cat burns clean, and HOT.

this unit is from the 80s, and the combustor unit is still kicking.

I blow it out a time or two per season, it takes a couple of minutes, no tools required, and I can even do it while the stove is burning.

it makes a HUGE difference in the amount of heatoutput of this stove design.
