I instaled a woodburning insert last month. I've always had solid flues before. Do you clean the flex liners with the same steel brush as with a solid liner. Or do i need some other kind of brush. Also will fiberglass rods work? I have a 2' offset near the bottom. WDO

A brush the same diameter as your liner can be bought at lowes or menards for next to nothing...Rods IMO make it easier, but it can be done w/ just rope...Good luck....

For what it's worth I've heard that you should use a poly brush on the SS Flex liners. I use that and the fiberglas rods, luckily I'm only dealing with 18' of pipe.
Maybe someone in the chimney biz will offer an opinion.

Good luck with the new insert, and sorry to hear about your dog.

Steel brush and Fiber glass rods takes a little effort to push it through the entire length. I have a ~30° bend in mine so I have to brush the bottom 3' from the insert side.

stainless steel flex liners

I was told by the manufacture of my old stainless steel flex liners that I should only clean the liner with a plastic brush not steel

That's what I was wondering as well. I don't think I've seen poly brushes at the box stores. WDO

White, I've got a flex liner and I was told by the dealer to use only the poly brushes. The metal ones could damage it!
