i am looking at the buckinham set with either the steel wrap pad or the soft wrap pad. what is the main difference as far a s quality and safety?

My experience has been opposite from above. Steel inserts were very uncomfortable, soft pads were very good for me and I used them for about 15 years. 6 months ago I went to the "Cadillac" aluminum pads and they are now my pad of choice.

I have to agree with Koa on the caddy pads, no question. Funny how those, which offer even more rigidity and support than steel insert pads, are now his first choice, when he preferred soft pads over steel insert pads.

Just goes to show you that these things are really a personal choice, and what works best for one climber may be unsatisfactory for another. Saddles are the same way, aren't they? :dizzy:
