Why would anyone want a 357 Shinny? It is a full pound heavier than a 200T and has less power. Now, my 488, there was a nice saw....mine neeeds a clutch and maybe a new cylinder, which I have...but the old one has been woods modded.....still runs but is scored a bit....

Clearance, nothing wrong with the 335's, really, for those of us that know how to solve problems.....mine outcut the 200T and run well day in and day out.

yeah right...

I've never seen a 335 that would run with a 20 or 200...no matter what mod's were done to it.....you'd have a better chance with a 338, but you'd still have to work on it some....I hate to tell you, but knock on wood...my 020 or 200 has never laid down on me a day yet....

I tried the Shindaiwa 357, well not actually running it. All I did was lift it, stick my hand out and said, no way, this thing feels like a rock. It may be good for big strong guys with muscular arms, but I'm just a small weak guy who can hardly lift a Silky. My saw of choice is the MS200T or its predecessor, the 020T and that's why I have 4 of them.

I have a Tanaka top handle saw,I bought it cheap and it tells its under powered, heavy, and not very well balanced, all in all its a load of :censored:

Hahaha! Thats what they issued the climbers at the Asplundh yard that I worked at. They are :censored: The rear handled Tanaka wasn't too bad though.

I`m not biased to a particular manufacturer I have 3 Stihls 4 Dolmars an Echo climbing saw and a Husky String trimmer:D for home. When I used to work for a big tree company I was issued my own Husky 338 and I used a MS200t very often. In a nutshell I like the small Echo`s for prunning big trees/small removals because it is light and balanced, very reliable too. I like the MS200 for regular removals because it is powerful for a climbing saw. I did not like the Husky 338 very much. To me the balance was awkward when holding the saw horizontal. The grip was slick plastic and too fat and round to hold the saw horizontaly without it pivoting in my grip. The sparkplug cover will eventually fall off and shock the crap out of you on a regular basis. I`m not knocking Husky, I think its time they do some serious R&D and produce a better climbing saw. The Dolmar clibing saw appears to be expensive from what I`ve heard. For now I`m sticking with Echo`s for performance ,reliabilty and value.

Good Luck
Glenn

I liked the Shindaiwa 357 but had to retire it. Gutsy saw, but with a small tank, it just runs out of gas too often. Working alone, while aloft, that's a real pita.

I'd buy a Dolmar mini saw. I've used the Dolmar match to the 346XP and was really, really surprised.

Treemachine-you are not supposed to be climbing alone, ever. The other guy isn't there just to fill up your saw, he can climb up and save your life if something real bad happens.

We've been telling him that for years. Looks like he's finally starting to listen, he's hiring a man this year.
