I have a clinton d55 saw that i put a carb kit into and it runs real good.
other that being 30 pounds it is a good cutter.
with it having alot of hp but not alot of rpms would it be a good race saw??
I have a stihl 021 that i use for all my yard work but when the clinton starts up all the heads turn.

:dizzy:

so what you are saying is that you have a saw and you have seen other saws and the saw you have was close to the saw on a pile that i was asking about and that you wanted to make a post so you did???

Bassman, that was the funniest post I've ever seen. I just wanted to make a post saying that, so I did,

this is what i love and hate about forums.
i ask a question and i get a weird reply then the post turns into a discussion about that reply and not my original question.

no..on the backside of the pile of scap saws was an old clinton D55, had it right on the side, chain saw..along with a poulan K and a davis bradley..and a few old mac's

Race saw or no?

Well... simply put, no.

Not that I'm a saw expert, but I do know two stroke engines. A very cool old piece of 'living' history that is great to have running. But, I'd say it is hard to call a 4000 to 5000 rpm saw a 'race' saw. The exception would be if you were running against similar older saws. Cool factor high (IMO), race factor very low. Enjoy it for what it is and have fun scaring the neighbors!

 BTW, I once looked at a saw on ebay that was listed right next to a Clinton. Not below it but above it. Not really above it but ending before it. (Just thought this post needed more extraneous input...

thanks

IMO i think my clinton is the coolest looking saw ever..
the way it has a straight pipe and big ugly jagged edges just makes it look scary.
it will get a full restore this winter and i will post my work when it is done.
