Hey y’all,

A dingus on my crew ran a Stihl 261 with a broken needle cage bearing and now the clutch is all dickered. I’m going to swap that out, but I also noticed that the clutch drum instability took chunks out of the oil pump and scored up what I think you could call the clutch “housing”. Will this scoring interfere with proper running, or will it be good enough if I swap the broken parts? Thanks y’all.

In my opinion- if the wear from the clutch bell is not through the pump body- you are good to replace the clutch components with new, including bearing and everything is good to go again.
The clutch components centralise off the crank and with a new bearing should not contact the pump, so therefore not continue to wear until the dingus strikes again.

That Dingus Extremus Stupidus must have heard all that racket and ignored it! I wonder if the seal is damaged?
