Has anybody ever seen one. There is one going in a auction tommorow, and just trying to come up with some sort of value. It has a briggs 8.5hp engine. Frame is 3x3 sq tubing with angle iron rails for the mill to run on. bed looks to be 16ft capacity, and about a 24in dia cutting width. Looks to a tad heavier built than some of the cheap mills on the market, but it certianly isnt a Woodmizer. I should have taken a picture, but didnt. At the time I wasnt considering bidding on it, but I have been considering building my own bandsaw mill. What has me interested in this mill would be possible reuse of parts to build a heavier, better mill. It all would depend on whether it sold cheap enough to make it worth while, but what would be considered cheap enough. The saw looks usable as is with a little cleaning and greasing.

8 feet of 3" square tubing w 1/4" wall is $95 +shipping from online supplier. Buck an inch. 24" cut is good but very slow with that small a horsepower, unless a 2 foot wide cant is on the rails most of the cuts are les than that any way. While you say it is not a woodmizer at the other end it is not a HF box of parts & engine(-; As was mentioned pics wood help. Re-use of parts from this existing mill to build a larger capacity could reach break even early in the fresh re make. For a ball park I asked on-line about square tubing for example. On the other parts that a little search could provide an idea of cost new can provide an idea of "if I buy this component $?" I was the only bidder on an 066 last fall & based my bid on half what one had been available in the trading post PHO. Two bars and seven loops came with and a bit of mix into the tank fired that puppy up:blob2:. Boils down to how much can you use it or the components of it for what you want. Be happy with your decision of what value you place on it. If ya win smile if your bid ain't enough smile, you saved the money for something else.
Another thought EZ Boardwalk , in Missouri, west of Hannibal, has a 30" cut, similar length of log support for $4300 new w/12.5 HP motor. Hope you enjoy:drinkingcoffee:

I didnt mention the Corey has a tongue and axle for towing. Levels looked like sissor screw jacks like in the trunk of a car. I have looked at a few of the $3000-$4000 range mills. the Corey looks at least as well, or better, built than most of them. I think I might bid up to about $1000 and hope I get it for less. Any more and I'll just go back to my plans of building one sometime in the future.

I havent found any information about the cobey brand either. It looks to be several years old and the engine looks a lot newer. Auction starts at 9:30. I'll have time to give it more than just a casual look before bidding starts.

I didnt buy it. Axle and tongue has been welded in place, why I dont know, they where both originaly designed to be removed. Also cut was not as wide as I first thought, only about 18inches. They did crank it up, but no type of clutch, bladed turns as soon as motor turns over. While the bed seemed to have plenty of support, the cutting carrage was pretty flimsy. rails and tubing was thin wall. My only reason for even considering this mill was I thought I could salvage materials to build a bigger mill. The value just wasnt there. I am sure the mill has a lot of life left in it, but It wasnt the mill I really wanted.

That is the attitude I had to develop after a few auctions. I've got stuck a couple times with "never saw that before" and bought with hopes. I do have a cooper's plane for the edge of the round lids that was an adventure to discover why it was that configuration. Patience will prolly bring what you need or can work with more easily. Good luck with your search

I kind of like the design. With the leveling jacks under the frame and several rail adjustments on each rail, a person should be able to get it all level and square for sawing. I didnt like the carriage wheels as they where very wide and allowed the carriage to walk side to side a little bit. I guess with the saw blade pulling thru the wood, it would keep the carriage pulled to one side. I think some sort of blade clutch or idler pulley for stopping the blade from turning would also be a good ideal. I believe that for the $2000+the 5% buyers premium, + the 7% sales tax I would have had to pay, I can build something a little better and more in line with the capacity I was looking for.
