Welcome Back!
I experienced the same after a heart attack, then I found this chainsaw system that lets me keep my feet on the ground so I'm jumpin back in. Google "Extended Reach Chainsaw System". I bought this with three additional poles, and I ain't climbing those trees no mowa to get the job done, lol. Hope this helps all you yougins save your bod, and us old farts from back strain and sore shoulders. Don't need to pull no cord anymore either! Just a thought....

Yo TreeSquirrel,
That's the beauty of this thing. If you watch some videos of this thing on youtube, which is where i found it, you'll see the operators are not directly under the branches. The longer I extend the pole, the further away from falling branches I am. Can't get any safer and simpler than this.
Cheers & beer

Thanks for the info. I have a telescopic pole saw by Stihl. HT130 which goes out about 16 feet I think. Good for low limb pruning. .
The pole saws have their place but not good for anything too high. If you are directly under it trying to get to a high limb it will fall on top of you. Also has a tendancy to pinch the bar a bit.
Using the pole saw from within a bucket is very beneficial. From the ground it has huge limitations though.
Anyway, it felt good to be back in a tree. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed taking in the view from the tops. Good day, no incidents, mild temperatures, and some cash in the pockets
