After reading threads on this site for several days (took a few days off work to relax :p ) Art Matrin's thread about modding race chains, I truely understand what he was posting and relate to why he left. I myself was posting information no one else dare discuss on modifying turbochargers and was attacked & threatened rather then understood. How I feel about Art is: Sharing what he knows would live on for generations to come instead of being lost or known only by a few whom may or may not share what they've learned. It can only help the sport. I raced Karts back in '80 & '81. I'd tell fellow racers my setup if asked. Driving had more to do with winning then having the fastest Kart out there. You could have the best equipment, fastest Kart but poor luck also. I remember some weekends a guy would come up & say he had some special pipe or clutch, everyone would worry. Green flag drops and a few laps later I used him as a marker to keep track of laps I was putting on the field. Seems like every weekend someone would come out with a World beater gadget.

It's not common for people to listen to experience anymore. These forums can spread really wonderfull information if people like Art are willing to put themselves out. Some of my posts on turbo's were lengthy. Batteries for my digital camera are over $20.00 and don't last that long, for some reason the AC converter doesn't work on the camera. Three years of work turned into accusations of misinformation, disbeleif, why bother with an older unit? and left field thinking. Not many could even understand what it was all about. Reading Art Martin's thread was familier to me.

I must comment on Gypo's thread where he share's his password to increace his posts. ???? that was the funniest thread I've ever read. When he "becomes" Ginger was equally as hularious. All you regulars post some very commical subjects here as well. It takes quite a while to read all the threads and I haven't read them all but do come here when I have time. I must say this site has pulled me out of a low period, thank you all.

to me it seems the real need is for u guys in the know,, to realise ,theres always gonna be those,, that do things different...
then if u are still willing to share ,and here different takes on the subject,,
we all benefit from it..... its a lot to ask , i know ,as it seems ,folks would appreciate your attempts to helpum more... but such is the nature of the beast called ,a human being...
i realize,, all ive said is easier said than done...sure hope u mite consider stickin around and contrbuting yoiur knowledge.
just my take on it. tony

I think its poor tast to start bashing someone like that. I am sorry to have seen Art go.

If this is in reference to what I post about Art, you'd better read slower. I'm not sure what else you could be writing this about but don't go off half-cocked on me. I respect Art Martin's post as much as Smokey Yunick's articles in Circle Track magazine or Kevin Cameron's articles on racing engineering in Sport Rider magazine. No, Art has a very sharp mind. His writing is well written and easy to understand. Maybe he's out writing that book everyone encouraged him to write? I certainly hope so, I'd be somewhere in the front of that line to purchace a copy.

As Sgt. Hartman said in Full Metal Jecket: I'll be watching you!!!!

Uh, I had other more important things to do so I couldn't join in on all this fun.

Visitor, I think you are a bit defensive as Buckwheat pointed out I was agreeing with you.:alien:

Backing up

Ryan, just reading your post, it seemed directed at me. I don't care to be on anyone's bad side for the wrong reason. I understand now, sorry for the forwardness. Hope your jaw heals up ok and the teeth grow back straight again.
