I was thinking anyone that is working for me including myself should be in a uni. I've been in the military, and the I understand the value of a "ship shape" looking outfit i.e. washed trucks, big, professional ads, and uniforms. It sends messages to the people on our sides, and the competition.:jawdrop:

I'm certain that T's are all that is necessary and caps. I need some clean company shirts to do the bidding in certainly.

Does your company wear the uniforms?

The thing you may want to consider is do you want to have to keep replacing uniforms when they get destroyed doing tree work, which we all know can be hard on clothing. I would agree with T-shirts, but pants boots and all can get expensive.

I just decided to do this. Set-up fee for embrodery was $40. At first I just had them do some polo shirts that I wear for bidding, etc... Then I got to thinking that maybe since I already paid the art fee, I'd ask about getting t-shirts as well. $8.95 per shirt with logo. So, yes...we will have "uniform" shirts.

:)its tax deductible. why not. looks good and professional. would just pay for the T-shirts my self. I my self just a small full time service, just work with me and the wife. so I have to buy all the other stuff any way. if yer good and ya look good yer even better:)

The city I work for hires tree cutters to do stuff above our skill level and I believe they take that into consideration. One outfit which is in the next city over has all different color trucks and nobody wears the same thing. He may be the best but doesnt look it. The two companies we used wear T-shirts and long pants.Good for you wanting to look professional and care about your appearance.

Good advertising, Looks professional. +1

Yay,
I feel it's important to look professional, however It's also important to be comfortable at work, I would avoid polyester uniforms at all costs.

A more cost effective way to provide a positive company image and keep the guys happy, is to go with Nice T shirts, or even golf / polo shirts, pick a color that goes well with jeans, and you will quickly and cheaply have a uniform looking comfy crew.

Appearance starts with the trucks leaving the yard, they should be clean repaired not necessarily all painted the same color but not Sanford and Son either , the guys should be wearing clean pants and boots and I think the Company shirts are great advertising , I hand them out to vendors and friends it's free advertising..

A group looking as one uniform team will give you a better professional impression on customers and onlookers.

Use high visible (easy to spot co-workers) color t-shirts (from you logo colors) that will also look clean with sap and oil.

As others have mentioned it is tax deductible and is a great way to advertise.

Shirts are fine, but guys shouldn't be wearing ball caps while doing tree work so unless your getting it for the guys to wear inbetween jobs, I wouldn't bother. Those bright yellow shirts with reflectors are great if your doing work
along the road or night time storm work, but otherwise they are ****** ugly,
and makes everybody look like dirtbags by the end of the day. Sure it's tree
work and homeowners know your gonna get dirty, but when your belly is all
dirty looking and your shoulder is as bright as it can be, it looks bad IMO. Not only that, there is no sense of pride when you walk into the convinence store before or after work with some alien looking spaceshirt on.

I have been looking into this too. Currently, I wear ####ies only w/ tee shirts and boots, nothing out of the ordinary. I've been looking at the Wearguard site for stuff. I like what I'm wearing now but would love to buy thier stuff, very inexpensive. My problem is what is it that they sell that is comparative to ####ies? They sell poplin and twill and other stuff. What are ####ies, twill, poplin? Anyone know?

Anyway, I'm all for uniforms as far as consistancy on the job. They wouldn't have to be all the same color and styles but at least one orientation, company logo, work clothes as opposed to jogging shorts or sneakers. I'll call Wearguard and speak to someone.

2weeks worth of pants and 2weeks of shirts. half shortsleeve half longsleeve.

the company comes to your shop to pick up the dirty and drop off the clean. ive only worked for one company that did that but i tell you what we looked good and the only thing to worry about was your boots.

in fact it was perfect. bring the dirties in on monday morning (pick up/ drop off day) and get the clean ones at the end of the day.

Well, if they're tax deductable, why would anybody miss a perfect shot like that.

That would be perfect - a washing company to grab the company laundry once a week. That makes for serious company pride. "Live for it, or leave it."

The thing with the caps is that I like to wear caps to bid and all else. Baseball guy. I'd just have a few on stock, but the thing is that in these palm trees, you need a cap to keep the crap off of your face and your head.

Palm tree work is very tight and messy. A hard hat wouldn't work at all, and you don't want to go up there to get your head all cut up from the barbs on the palm fronds. The hats make sense in the palm trees, so there is my opportunity to put more company logos on bodies for the community.:popcorn::popcorn:

A hard hat won't work? Try telling that to your workers comp carrier or OSHA. Also tax deductible means you save about 15% on the cost of the goods or service at the end of the year, meanwhile you still have to come up with 100% of the cash up front, plus you still have to justify the 85% cost.
