Just because a bunch of guys show up looking professional, doesn't make them professional.

That's completely true, but the customer can't tell most of the differences that set you apart from the competition. This is an easy one. Dress alike. It's tax deductible, the guys don't have to waste money on clothes, and most potential customers will assume you are professional. From business owners perspective, every job you do is an advertisement for your business. Have it look it's best.

I worked for a roofing company that provided uniforms that were cleaned by the service. How the heck they got tar out of those clothes amazes me still to this day. We would do a flat roof and we would be speckled with tar from head to toe. Drop them in the laundry bin and a week later there they were, back on the rack looking like brand new.

The guy we worked for did it to stop us from beyotching about tar ruining our clothes. He said any money spent to shut us up was well spent!

Probably dry cleaned. The solvants in Dry Cleaning will break down tar like gasoline.

People are judging you and the company , the fact that you are a professional sets you aside from the others, and uniformity shows professionalism , I never see professional athletes wearing different uniforms on the field so why would that excuse work in the work place, wear the uniform or get to stepping , thats that. I have worked anywhere where there was not some type of uniform as such I will allow anyone that I work with to not wear theres ..
