I'm looking for a good climbing saw for the money. I love the 020t, but sthil has replaced it with the MS200t. The other day I was browsing around and noticed a lot of guy's using the 335Cal. I think that the Ms200t has lost some of what the 020t has in power. Lots of people have told me that the MS200t and the 335Cal. are close to the same. Of course you got your husky people and your sthil people, but put all that aside. Husky to me would have to have made a huge improvement to get close to the saw the 020t is. The husky's I've used in the past are light weight, but lacked the power and speed you needed in a tree. When it came down to the trunk it had a hard time not bogging down. The 020t has good balance, good power, and great speed. It can handle limbs as well as the trunk. Of course on big trees you have to switch to a bigger saw as you get on down the trunk. I would like some one else to help me out with this. Maybe someone with lots of experiance on both. Or just someone who can make husky shine a little more. Thanks and sorry for the length of this post.

Where did you hear that the ms200T has less power? The 335 Cal ought to be a torquey thing considering the 45cc displacement. I have no experience with either of the new editions. I happen to like the red headed step-child, the 019T.

Froggy, I doubt seriously if the 200T can come close to the Cali. I dont have one yet, but likely will soon. My Walkerized 335 is way faster than a stock 020. But that saw when stock was doggy, unlike one of my old, poor starting 335's which had great power, better than 020T's that i compared it with.

I dont know about the 200T, but most of the bigger Stihl's have lowered pwr ratings, due to EPA problems. Same may be true of the regular 335, as I just saw it at 2.1 hp in the 2002 Husky ctalog, versus 2.2 previously.

Frankly, I like the design and light weight of the 335 better than the 020, which has been a pretty reliable saw, unlike the first few years of the 335. Most of those problems are solved. Look for a post by "Greg", he reallay likes his Cali, and it starts much better than my modded 335.

Rog, do you know what the HP rating is for the Cali 335?

And didn't you say the Echo 3400 was rated at 2.1 in a previous thread? (sorry for off-topic)

No, Brian, Echo doesnt publish pwr specs...that I am aware of.

Hm, I see that newfie.... doesnt make sense though. Also, they list the weight as unchanged ,and you'd think a 10 cc bigger jug assembly would weigh a bit more. And the guys that run both say the power difference is noticable. I do think though that the saw is detuned versus the 35 cc model, same as the 019T. But Dennis hopped one up and was very impressed with the saw and the power gains. So I will be getting one. I think I will break it in before sending it to Walker's (cheaper than Dennis, and their work is good enough for that saw) After break in, I will test it versus my stock and modded 335's and the Echo 3400 w/muffler mods.
