hi guys after 13 years of making every one else rich i have made the plunge and do it on my self. i have nursing this for 4-5 years now,
Quit my my full time job, Municpal arborist. etc..

i was wondering if any one knows of a program that i can get.
My call in on (enter the data, name, address, phone, job they want etc..)
the it can be kept in a phone log, then sent to a printer and be put on to a estimate sheet i spend way too much time writting them out, 2hrs a night,

The mapping out the address and map page numbers of where all the sites are can be solved with a palm held g.p.s. system.

When your are small company i have to do 40-50 estimates a week in bussy times, i need to be efficent because i still have to work on the crew on big jobs and still see service calls, (good & bad) and still see my family.

What do do the rest of you guys do in the same situtation.

I use Delorme's Street Atlas for finding address. It runs around $30. You can import files into it.

You can also use the standard MS outlook contact cards. there is a link there to MapQuest. once you enter the address you cna click the buton and usuall get a good map.

Delorme will customize map softwear also. I don't know the cost there.

Is this type of program something that a lot of arborists are needing? If so, get me more particulars on what you need to collect and what format (reports, etc) you need to run your businesses more efficiently. What I lack in tree care knowledge, I make up for in computer programming. :D
