We are possibly looking at a new chipper. We are currently using 2 drum chippers (no feed wheels). One is a 8" and one is a 12". A person from Conehead has called us about their chippers and wanted to get some feedback from others that have used them. Any good or no? Also like the Vermeer 1400 but it is expensive.

ALL new chippers by any manufacturer will be expensive now. The cost of steel has risen more than 100% from just a couple of years ago. This is because China is sucking up the supply. My Woodsman 18X with 200hp Cummins and lots of options, now costs about $10K more than what it cost when I bought it new in 2002. I could easily sell it for what I paid after more than 2 years of use. Kind of reminds me of my 1971 Porsche 911. I sold it in 1975 for almost what I bought it for. Even if I kept it till today, I could sell it for only about $1500 less than what I paid back then.
