Holy smokes-did i see one of the costs to attend this thing is over $1000??? Seems if these speakers were so keen on enlightening the masses, they could do it a little cheaper. How many people do they usually have attend these things?

Looks like a blast, a good time can be had by all, drinking and whoring after, great, and Willie, thats the best reason. Whats really good is that you get credits by the ISA for attending, just for attending a conference, wow, more credibility for the ISA. Treeseer, I just can't help it, seriously though I hope you attend the presentation by Geoff from Asplundh "Why utilities don't always follow ANSI..." Maybe you will benefit from that. Have fun, cheers.

Attending the whole shebang is $765. I don't think speaker expense reimbursement is a major part of the fee--it is not with ISA and TCIA conferences, anyway, that I know for sure. ASCA is out to make money on it, no doubt. But they put on a good conference overall; I've been to 7 and never been too disappointed. 2-300 or so is average I would say.

re CEU's, yeah someone can pay to register and then skip the talks and just sign the ceu sheet but that would be kind of silly. Last year I heard some amazing new stuff and also some boring old stuff; it's a sifting process. Attending is a credible way to keep up with the profession, not as good as testing after reading but right up there. Field testing would be ideal but hard to make that work credibly--uniformity and fairness would be issues.

I will definitely listen to Geoff Kempter; he is a good presenter and writer--he wrote the BMP's for Utility work. Catchy title; it does make you wonder huh?
