My wife put a cast iron kittle on the insert, and 5 hrs. later ,beans were done/Wondering how we can make cornbread on top.If you have ever cooked on your stove,i would like to here about it........yesssssss,no propane!!!:greenchainsaw:

Need a dutch oven

With a rimmed lid..
You put a bunch of coals on the lid and set it on top of the stove I reckon. But you need heat on top of a dutch oven to bake.

Harman t 200

My harman has a grate that fits in the top to cook on, there is nothing better than venison and baked potato cooked over apple wood. also cook in the cast iron skillet on top of the stove. why waste the heat and pay to cook on your kitchen stove.

Use an oven camp stove, like this, if you have a 12 x 12 flat area on your stove top:

Haha, I have something very similar to that only it is an antique! I have done some cooking on our Alpiner from time to time, I have baked some pretty awesome potatoes in that thing. I have a campfire rack that I sandwich steaks into and open the front doors and grill them over the bed of oak coals.
It doesn't take much to cook vegetables in a pot or simmer a stew all day either. The heat is there, might as well use it!

I didnt cook on my Sierra but I did keep the deep fried turkey warm this Thanksgiving while I did a second. Wife was using oven for casseroles. :)

Ive done cornbread muffins on top of the stove by turning a large cake pan over and putting it over the muffin pan. Had to remember to turn the pan because the back of the stove gets hotter than the front.

All in all it turned out well while the beans were cooling. If I had used a lasagna pan I could have had more than one pan of muffins ready when the beans were cooled enough to serve.

We usually just make Chilli or water for hot coco on top pf the stove :). Usually have to get it going pretty good to get a big pot of chilli to simmer though.

+1 on the dutch oven, We've never tried to bake with one on the stove but we have made soups and chilli with ours. we've used one camping to cook with , we dug a hole out and put hot coals into the bottom and then put the dutch oven in and surrounded and covered the thing with hot coals so it cooked from all sides, I believe it was like a chicken pot pie or something but it worked decent.
