A while back someone posted the question of how to cool their house with their wood boiler.

here is the answer:http://www.energy-concepts.com/thermosorb.html

or just google thermosorber

I couldn't find ton hours in the pocket reference book so I'm not sure how the ton hours of chilling translates into btus

I see that the input temperature is higher than the output temp of most boilers.Maybe at half the input temp you'd only get 400ton hours of cooling.

Anybody ever seen or heard of this thing???

Energy Units Conversion Table

The following table provides the multiplier to convert a unit of measure to kBtu:

1.

Locate the energy source and the applicable unit of measure.
2.

Select the conversion multiplier from the right column.
3.

Multiply non-kBtu units of energy by multiplier and this converts the energy unit to kBtu equivalent.

Energy Source

Unit of Measure

Multiplier

Chilled Water
MBtu (million Btu)1000

Chilled Water
Ton Hours 12

Chilled Water
Daily Tons 267.8

Chilled Water
Gallons 0.0093333
so according to this calculation it will produce 12X400 = 4800 kbtus
aka 4.8million btus
